However, my experience demonstrates that daily, moderate, but appropriate adjustments are what lead to true health and fitness.

The start of my journey

I kept up quick, complicated health and fitness routines for a long time. My daily routine consisted of working out for long periods of time in the gym, maintaining a strict diet, and feeling stressed and worn out all day. I would sometimes give up everything for no apparent reason, then everything would be fine for several months. My routine completely changed when work-from-home became available following Covid-19. My health and mood were severely impacted by sitting at home, lack of movement, elevated stress, and irregular eating habits.   1. Walk in the peace of the morning

I started my day with a 15-20 minute walk every day.  It was not a fast run or a heavy workout, but a leisurely walk among the trees, breathing in fresh air and feeling nature.  My day would begin fresh and my mind would remain clear as a result. This practice not only gradually increased my physical capacity but also significantly decreased my stress level.

  1. Mindful eating

Earlier, I used to eat food very fast, many times while working or while being busy with mobile.  Now I tried to focus entirely on eating while I was eating. I stopped watching TV and the phone and just focused on eating. I noticed that my digestion was getting better, that the food tasted good, and that my stomach started feeling lighter. This mindful eating became a part of my daily lifestyle.

  1. Small stretching breaks

Long periods of time spent using a computer or mobile device were once associated with eye and body stiffness. So I started stretching for three to four minutes every two to three hours. These were light back and eye relaxation exercises, as well as gentle shoulder and neck stretches. My body remained relaxed as a result, and muscle scleral blockages were reduced and is good for my health and fitness.

These small changes made my mind more calm, focused and happy.  I no longer let stress overwhelm me quickly as before.  With the help of mindfulness and meditation, my mind remains clear, which helps me make better decisions.

My energy levels have increased, my digestion has improved, and my sleep has improved as a result of these routines. I have gradually lost weight, but most importantly, I feel better about my body. There is no coercion; all that is required is loving and understanding care for my health and fitness

I now have a more balanced life. There is no impatience or loneliness. Small daily steps have become a stable foundation of wellness for me, making me feel happy, healthy, and mentally strong.

Why is gentle wellness the best way?

Extreme lifestyle changes frequently fail because they cannot be sustained. A more comfortable, gradual approach to our body and mind yields the best results.  When we adopt small habits, they persist, and these habits gradually become second nature.  With this, we stay healthy without stress and reap the benefits throughout our lives.

  • Start with small changes, like working out for a few minutes every day, or drinking more water.
  • Make it a habit to take a light walk in the cool morning air.
  • Eat mindfully, away from electronics as much as possible.
  • Stretch a little throughout the day, especially if you have a sitting job.
  • Reduce screen time before bed, for better sleep quality.
  • Be loving and patient with yourself. If you make mistakes, explain yourself, don’t give up.
  • Try a digital or social media detox on the weekend.
  • If possible, go for a walk in natural places; connecting with nature brings mental peace.

When we stop insisting on big changes and take small gentle steps, these steps deeply affect both our mind and body.  True, long-term health and mental tranquility can only be achieved in this manner.
